So I am just randomly picking from the many blessings I have been given. I am not ranking them in order of importance or priority in my life. So don't be shocked that I didn't start with Christ, my husband or my son. They definitely have made the list, though. :)
This morning, I was thinking about how music is a blessing to me. I am no expert when it comes to music. I rarely know who sings what songs. (I have my husband for that.) Nonetheless, I love to hear music. Each morning, when Toad wakes up, we walk into the computer room and I ask him if he wants to hear some music. Without fail, immediately, a grin begins to form behind his yellow pacifier. When I reach for the speaker button and double click on iTunes, the smile grows even bigger. And the moment that first note comes through those speakers, the dancing begins.
There is just something about music that lifts my spirits. It can cause me to dance, to sing like a lunatic (one who pretends to have a microphone in her hands), or to just reflect on the blessings that have been bestowed upon me.
I remember, when I was pregnant, standing in church singing Blessed Be the Name. Every time we got to the line that says "He gives and takes away", I would choke up. Each time I sang that line, I was fully reminded that HE had blessed us with the child that was growing in my belly. And, I was recognizing that he belongs to the Lord. Acknowledging that HE could take away that precious gift at any time was beyond humbling. That song still chokes me up when I sing it.
The pride that I felt when I would look up and see my husband leading worship at church was overwhelming at times, too. The fact that music is one of the easiest ways for him to worship is awesome.
Music just blesses me in many ways... even when it serves to hold me accountable and remind me of God's promises. Have you heard the song Come Home Running by Chris Tomlin? Yah, that one hit me the other day, just when I needed it to.

I find that happening to me during worship more often now that I'm pregnant. Pregnancy is such an amazing blessing.
